What are the best Kitchen Knives?

For Christmas I'm planning on buying my mother a new kitchen knife set. My budget is $100. I have Kitchen Aid knives and they're ok, but I don't like them enough to get the same ones for her. I've been doing a little research, but I'm not sure which are the best quality.

I want a set of at least 10 with a block. I'm looking at Cuisinart, J.A. Henkel, Wusthof, and Ginsu. Which are the best? I'm open to other suggestions too. Please include links to any sets you find.

The Henkel, and Wusthof are about as good as they get, and it's a toss up between the two.
Be aware tough, that both have different grades of knifes, and the premium is no doubt the best.
I have used both with very good results, but again, do not get the cheap grade in either brand.
To sharpen us a medium to fine grit diamond stone with water to lube with.
For really good service, forget the Ginsu, and ignore the TV commercials, same goes for Cuisinart, although it's better than Ginsu, it does not compare to the top brands mentioned.
You will not get a whole set for $100.00 of the best knives, as I paid that much for one knife.
For about $150.00 you can find about three medium priced Henkels which will be better than a whole set of cheaper knifes.
