Install windows 7 without a internal dvd drive?
So I have a external dvd drive but no internal and a windows 7 disk, if i boot the disk while running xp it will start the installation but it says it will reboot the system several times,
I dont want to no be able to boot back and in my bios there is an option to boot USB-CD but when i select that it never asks me to boot from it during startup, is there a way to get it to boot from the disk/will it install just fine without a bootable dvd drive?
I went through the same thing recently, installed Windows 7 in a Toshiba laptop that was running Vista. All it has is an external USB DVD drive, and it won't boot from USB, so I just ran setup from within Vista and the installation went flawlessly. When it rebooted several times it did so all on its own with no prompting from me and basically wiped Vista out and installed in its place.
