Audio receiver/speaker compatibility?
I am interested in buying the Onkyo TX-NR609 7.2 Channel Network THX Certified A/V Receiver to replace my very outdated Sony HTC800DP home theater in a box. I know the speakers with this current receiver are far from great, but would I have any compatibility problems if I used these old speakers with this new Onkyo receiver? I don't want to break anything or find that it won't work after I buy it. Thanks much!
Also, will the subwoofer I currently have with this Sony home theater system work with the new Onkyo receiver I am interested in buying? Thanks!
I realize it's not the greatest idea but I am asking from a technical standpoint, will it work? I don't plan on cranking it up and testing it's limits and it's easier moneywise for me to get part of it now and part later. plus I could really use many of the inputs that the new receiver has that my current one doesn't.
It's not gonna be worth the investment if you will stick to your old speakers. Consider brands like B&W, Monitor Audio, velodyne for sub..etc and it all depends on your room size.
