The previous owner of our house installed a rainbird sprinkler system with a CRC-6 electric controller. While I can shut off the system supply water from a valve in my basement and open another valve on the line inside my basement to allow some of the water from the shutoff valve to the station control pit (a 12" covered pit in the ground) outside to drain into a bucket, there is no manual valve in that pit to allow for any further drainage of the system (including the exposed pipe along the exterior of the house that goes into the pit). A couple of years ago, an underground sprinkler repair person told me that to accomplish such drainage each winter, all I needed to do was to run each station a minute or so after shutting off the supply water. I did that his morning, but none of the heads in any station popped up (we haven't had to use the system in over a month). Does that mean I have automatic drain valves on the line? Thanks!
