SRAM Red Crankset BB30

SRAM Red Crankset BB30

$533.99

If you ever thought that Sram's Red Crankset looked too sterile with their grey chainrings, have a look at this Red Black BB30 Crankset. Functionally, it's the very same, though the new black chainrings give it a more sinister appearance. And since SRAM is a forward-looking company, they wanted to offer their top-of-the-line crankset in a version compatible with BB30 framesets. Please note that if you don't have a BB30-specific frame, these cranks won't work (just order the standard Red Black crankset instead!)Like the standard crankset, with the BB30 version you'll get PowerGlide chainrings. They're machined from 7075-T6 aluminum to be plenty stiff so more of your power turns into speed instead of component flex. But it's not just about the added power-transfer that comes with flex-free chainrings -- since PowerGlide chainrings don't flex, they pick up and drop off the chain with unparalleled ease, And in addition to looking fantastically PRO, the hard anodized Black chainrings wear well and will give you many miles of smooth shifts. The BB30 design offers a number of benefits over standard external bearing cranksets, SRAM's GXP design included. Perhaps most importantly, you'll get a narrower crank at the spindle. This gives you significantly more ankle and heel clearance, so your shoes won't as readily rub the carbon fiber crankarms if you pedal with your heels in/toes out. The shorter, larger diameter spindle is also 10% stiffer, and it's 20% lighter as well. The Red Black BB30 Crankset is available in 170, 172.5, and 175mm crankarm lengths, and it's available in 53/39 and 50/34 chainring configurations. One final note: SRAM Red compact Cranksets don't require a special compact-specific front derailleur. You use the same Red front derailleur for the 53/39 as you do for the 50/34. Bottom Bracket NOT included.

SRAM Red Compact Crankset

SRAM Red Compact Crankset

$507.99

While the flawless shifting quality hasn't changed, the all-black treatment on the SRAM Red Black Crankset will move you. We like it because its monochromatic version of the Nascar-esque graphical styling of Red seems more subdued and stealthy. All the same, the Black Red Crankset shares the top shelf with Red, and its DNA comes straight from SRAM's earlier Force crankset.Moving back and forth between chainrings is substantially quicker, quieter, and more fluid in comparison to Force. Red's exclusive use of ZeroLoss technology allows the Red DoubleTap shift lever to pull cable in the instant you put pressure on the shift lever. Another improvement in comparison to Force is the fact that with Red you can now microadjust the position of the front derailleur, so you can cross-chain to your heart's content without getting ticketed for noise pollution. The final piece of the shifting puzzle is found here, in the Red Black Crankset. The redesigned profile of Red's PowerGlide chainrings make them measurably stiffer, so more of your power turns into speed instead of component flex. But it's not just about the added power-transfer that comes with flex-free chainrings -- since they don't flex, they pick up and drop off the chain with unparalleled ease, and they look fantastically Pro, to boot. Another critical difference between Red and Force is in its redesigned arms. Like Force, Red is an all-carbon crankset with an integrated BB spindle. It has carbon arms built on an aluminum spine, mated to a carbon spider. What's different, though, is that Red's arms have a lower profile, leading to a lower Q-factor and added stiffness. The SRAM Red Black Crankset is available in 170, 172.5, and 175mm crankarm lengths, and it's available in 53/39 and 50/34 chainring configurations. Please Note: it does NOT come with a bottom bracket. You'll need a SRAM/Truvativ GXP bottom bracket. One final note: SRAM Red compact cranksets don't require a special compact-specific front derailleur.

SRAM Force Crankset BB30

SRAM Force Crankset BB30

$362.95

SRAM believes in the BB30 bottom bracket standard. That's why they offer it in their top two cranksets, including this SRAM Force BB30 Crankset. How's this different than their Force GXP Crankset and how is it better? The difference is that it's designed around the BB30 bottom bracket standard which makes use of a 30mm crank spindle and larger bearings that are pressed directly into an oversized shell. You get a lighter and stiffer crank, the bearings are larger and more durable (bigger is better, remember ISIS?), and since the spindle is shorter, there is more ankle and heel clearance between your shiny shoes and your new crankarms. The carbon fiber arms on the Force cranks are built on a minimalistic aluminum spine that's used to both align the spindle mount and pedal threads during molding and add to the durability out on the road. A carbon spider and alloy chainring bolts further reduce weight. The PowerGlide chain rings that come standard on the Force crank ensure crisp movement of the chain as you switch rings. The gates and ramps on the teeth make quick work of upshifts and downshifts, and they ensure that the sophisticated technology of the Double Tap shifter isn't wasted on a crankset that can't deliver flawless performance. The PowerGlide rings are built with SRAM's "TNT" hard-anodized finish. You'll get more mileage from these rings than any other 10-speed set out there, and thanks to the finish, your shifting and pedaling will be quieter than ever before. The PowerGlide rings are optimized for use with the Force front derailleur -- you'll find that you can cross-chain to your heart's content when you're in the big chainring without hearing a whit of chain rub. And whether your gearing differential between chainrings is 14t or 16t, you'll get flawless shifting -- that's the one detail that distinguishes the compact Force from every other 50/34 crankset we've ever tried. It shifts as flawlessly as a 53/39 -- a rarity when it comes to compact cranks.

SRAM Apex Crankset w/GXP Cups 68

SRAM Apex Crankset w/GXP Cups 68

$174.99

Triple road cranks are a dying breed, here's why. Groups like SRAM Apex, with its double compact cranks and wide ratio cassettes offer the gear range you need without the complications of three chainrings and all the extra weight. The Apex Crankset serves up faster shifts, minimizes the chance for dropped chains, reduces the Q-factor, and allows more ankle/heel clearance over triples. The Apex Crankarms are forged from 6061 T6 aluminum. While not hollow like the Rival's OCT arms (foregoing some lightness in comparison), the Apex cranks are plenty stiff. But like the higher end cranksets, Apex uses hard anodized 7075 T6 chainrings. They use the same Powerglide shaping to provide quick, positive shifts. The SRAM Apex Crankset is available in both compact 34/50t and standard 39/53t chainring configurations and in three crankarm lengths -- 170, 172.5, and 175mm. They're Jet Black and include lightweight Black anodized alloy chainring bolts as well as a 68mm English threaded GXP external bearing bottom bracket. The actual weight listed above is for the crankset only and does not include the GXP bottom bracket, which weighs 126 grams.
